yeni bob we all live east of the station . there had been heavy layers of soot and dust over the last few months that can only indicate they haven't had the chimney sweeping for a bit and there's a right old plume of smoke emanating from there today . maybe they for got to remove the wool b4 barbecuing the lamb ..

Its a diesel powered station and you can get very ill from the particles left behind after its burned.... We studied the effects of it when I was in the fire service as some of the firfighters got ill when the station turned its engines out and the smoke lingered behind... Google it...

Our pool and patio is full of diesel particles,we can get a dustpan full every day from the patio,I just wish the wind would blow west to east a bit more often.

They have had a big problem there today so maybe that is why it has been smoking more than usual.

Sorry to be dim here, but did you all not notice there was a power station nearby when you purchased your property? if you did spot it then find out about prevailing winds here which are 90% North or North Westerly, its a bit like someone buying at Sellafield or Heathrow saying I never noticed the cooling towers/airplanes.

Gooligan sorry but you will get that only a handful of those days yesterday was one but light winds.

Did anyone else notice the "BP GULF OF MEXICO" sign writing on the tankers that have unloaded there lately?

Pugwash:

You are quite correct in stating that the wind prevailing for most of the year is Nor'west - actually, Nor'nor'west. Whatever, I really feel sorry for 'Gates' and others who are so insidiously affected by a monstrosity which wouldn't be allowed to operate in it's present condition an any other civilised country. Having said that, not so long ago, I watched a BBC [fiction] film about a UK recycling plant that was covering up its actual high toxic output and causing many in the vicinity to succumb to cancers.
