Our dogs vet has mentioned that the Turkish military (or possibly ex TM dog trainer, not sure) will take dogs for a month and train them. Anyone tried it? If so, what was your experience? How was the dog when it came home?

sounds like a really strange idea to me - why would you want to give your dog away to be trained - surely it's better to be trained with your dog - after all, half the issues with dogs who have problems are down to uneducated ownership so its also down to training the owners?!

Mike when we went to dog training Lena said she was unable to re-train my husband ! He can be far too soft..I never greet our dogs when we come home as I have been told this is wrong. I wait till I am ready to greet them once I have been in the house a little while..Now they run straight to hubby and get all the attention they want..AHHH. You need to let your dog know who is in charge and the leader..Whats the point of him going into the Army if once he come home again he has a new Sargent ) Spider,X

Mike my sister in law sent her dog away to be trained and he came back a new dog, he would follow every command that they taught him and if i ever got another dog i would not hesitate to have it trained the right way. At the last KAR dog show i spoke with Ben from K9 training centre in Lefkosa 0542 8500542 might be worth your while giving him a ring. He does speak english.

Train your dog yourself, that is part of the fun of having a dog. You learn together. Too easy to get someone else to do it for you.

I heard of someone who trained his dog to bring him a toilet roll to the bathroom when so commanded. Unfortunately it was a Labrador, Rottweiler, crossbreed. It delivered the toilet roll then ripped his throat out !

Fit your dog with an electric collar - it'll soon humble down and do just what you tell it! If it doesn't, a coupla three presses on the tranny button should make it sit up and take notice!
