The tax is 10% of the monthly rental. Depending on how long your rental agreement is you can pay now up until the end of the year in a one off payment so that you do not need to go every month to the tax office. The tax office is located on the Lapta to Girne main road. You pass Cafe Dukan and you come to the roundabout with the water, take the first exit left. Follow the road down and you will see the tax office on the right hand side. It is a white building. When you enter the building go into the main room but walk to the small window at the end, this is where you pay any tax on properties. To the right of this is where people pay the car tax so you could be waiting a long time otherwise!! You will need your passport number with you when you register the tax. Lydia

Good to know that someone is successfully renting out their villa. What has been your experience for the benefit of others?

Only rented it out for the 1st time for 3 months, I am very cautious and don't really know what condition it is in until we come over. I ll will tell you more when I have seen it.... I am slightly concerned about my new 3 piece suite! but hey it was my decision!
