Does anyone know if a Turkish Cypriot drivers licence can be used in the UK or is it best to renew my expired UK licence?

You can use it for a short period, for example if you want to hire a car, they will accept it, but for long term you would definately need a uk licence

If "not normally resident" in the UK, you can use it for up to a year from the date of your last entry. If you are resident of the UK, you can use it for a year, max. To continue driving after a year, you need to take and pass a UK driving test. Even if you fail the test, you can continue driving for the remainder of the 12 months. You say you have the option of renewing an expired UK licence. But have you? Before it expired, the DVLA will have written to you with a reminder. If that has been ignored, and the licence not renewed, they may well cancel it, and you'll have to start all over again. If they know you live permanently abroad, they will probably have cancelled it, as UK licences are only valid for UK residents.
