Heard that this bar was once again taken over by Keko, we went along for fish and chips tonight. While perfectly adequate the batter was pale and not that crisp, likewise the chips and all served on cold plates so we were taken aback when the bill arrived and the charge for 2 fish and chips was 50TL !! We are not mean people but we can get a beautiful 3 course lunch for this price in lovely surroundings at Midsummer House or even less at Patina.

We pay considerably less for fish and chips at our local Chez Fred's in Westbourne , Bournemouth which, believe me is the best fish and chips in Britain, so we will certainly not be going back to the Village Bar.

Wake up and smell the vinegar ...........

Hey Swyflot, (will have to start calling you Eddie Eats) Good feedback on some of the local haunts (excuse the pun) Yusuf at the village bar has always been a rip off merchant thats why its usually empty. Has your oven broke never knew you to get out so much.

D.N..

You know very well that the oven is broken (it's not been the same since you repaired it) but hopefully Santa will bring me a new one. In the meantime I'll check out the local eateries and, as always, give an honest opinion

Is the Village Bar, what was formerly known as Down Under Bar and then Bostan's?

Swyflot - Don't know where you live but you would not be disappointed by making a trip up to the Crows Nest in Karmi on a Friday night. Andrew's fish n chips are as good as Chez Fred's in Westbourne (with mushy peas) but cannot boast having Max Bygraves as a customer!!

In Catalkoy, so a bit of a hike to Karmi, maybe when the nights are lighter again! When living in Dorset went to Chez Fred's loads of times but never saw Max Bygraves (except in a photo )
