Ever heard that sound... a bang followed by what sounds like a big tyre going down??? That will be one of your neighbours tanks exploding... and it could be yours next! The main cause of a ruptured hot water tank is due to a corroded and non-functional pressure release valve which, when working, releases excessive pressure from your roof storage tank. Our water here is so hard that every time this necessary gadget sprays to release pressure it becomes coated with lime scale and over time clogged and unable to perform its role, leaving your tank a sitting time bomb. Sometimes, however, it doesn't explode, it becomes slightly fractured and you will be left with a constant leak on the roof which means that you will be continually loosing hot water resulting in high electricity bills.

Almost every tank we have been to service this year has had its element thermostat set to its maximum temperature, which not only results in extremely high electricity bills but a short life for your entire set-up. Hard water should be set at a maximum of 60 degrees and we are way off the scale for hard water here. Dont just take our word for it, please visit the following links... From Discovery Channels famous, Mythbusters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pu3FwgIHsQA Other informative link: http://www.waterheaterblast.com/ This is why we have been praised by all of our customers for offering this value for money deal. Each service we will: -Always change the element and set it to the right temperature. -Always Replace your pressure release valve. -Inspect all roof pipework for damage. -Flush and clean your hotwater solar panels. -Inspect tiles and other parts of the roof for damage. -If fitted we will also clean your airiator filters sometimes fitted to taps in

Sorry guys This was absolutely not meant to cause any panic for us to gain work. The links were intended for information only as it would seem from the phone calls during our last campaign that many people didn't understand the system we use here and I'm a fan of Mythbusters. This said, I wouldn't like to be sat on one when it went off! Sorry to anyone that has taken this the way racoonchic took it. Point taken... Steve

If you have an open storage tank on the roof and a gravity fed system, you have nothing to worry about. The utube film clip was very missleading, they had a completely sealed system and were using a 6 KW heater and it was set up to burst.

i have now got nickel plated emertions that will last probly longer than your tank we can fit these at £95 a go and if you have to replace your tank make sure they put it in the new one as for exploding tanks who ever installed it was not a very good company as there are many preasure release valves on the market get a good fitter next time you will be ok

The video is purely designed to show (in an extreme situation) what the safety devices fitted to our systems are designed to do. Even if you use the highest quality pressure release valve, we still recommend changing it yearly (considering cost) due to the hard water and exposure these devices get in this country. In absolutely no terms is this link designed to scare anyone into taking up our offer. The installation of these devices are pretty easy. We hope that some of you will take the information in the light it was intended... Kindest regards Steve

Hi Sheffpants, Been there, done that, and yes our tank went up dramatically. There are those on this site who get quite technical about these things but for those of us who used our brains and not our brawn in our working lives all the techy stuff is lost on us. Give us the opportunity to employ somebody who can rectify these faults and give us a worry free future and we're happy. So, good on you, Sheffpants, and put your phone number up so we can contact you for the annual servicing in the future.
