| My family just returned from an extremely informative and enjoyable day at Famugasta. Hans, aka DutchCrusader, led us through the streets presenting an historical overview of the churches, castles, ruins of Famagusta. We arrived at 10:00 walked around for two hours, then a 45 minute lunch followed by another two hours of exploration. I am posting to bring attention to those that may be interested. While Hans volunteers his time and knowledge and does not charge a fee, we donated 25 tl per head to help offset the costs of running his website and materials. For those who are interested, you can view his website, http://www.allcrusades.com/index-2.html and find his contact information. |

| HotHippo: My main interest is medieval history and my specialty are the late Byzantine (circa 1150-1191), Lusignan (1191-1489), Venetian (1489-1571) and early Ottoman (1571- circa 1600) eras in Cyprus. I do walks with anyone with a genuine interest! Let me know (preferably via email) if you have a special wish ("what and when?") and we'll work something out. "Northern Cyprus is an open air museum!" - a quote from Dr William (Bill) Dreghorn... http://www.allcrusades.com/CASTLES/CYPRUS/FAMAGUSTA/william-dreghorn/william_dreghorn_bio.html |
