We have heard, through a UN contact, that Ledra Palace is now open to Civilian cars. Has anyone else heard this or actually gone through in their civilian car? It has always been a "walk through" for civilians and only UN vehicles were allowed through. Anyone confirm or deny? Thanks

I doubt if it would make a great deal of difference to most TC's and expats, as they usually tend to head for Homebase, the Mall, or Orphanides and now Lidl, for supermarket shopping or DIY/construction and engineering supplies.

If they only want to browse, or shop for clothes, shoes, etc., they can save themselves the €25 car insurance fee and walk across at Lokmaci, or Ledra Palace.
