Woken about 5 this morning by 3 dogs attempting to rip our cat apart in the garden. Got them away from

the poor thing and phoned Petcross who took the call and were at the surgery when we arrived. Apart from

very deep wounds to her flank and hinds she is possibly paralysed in one leg and is very poorly. Anyhow we left her at the surgery and pray she gets through. I have to give credit to Petcross who were fantastic. With regards the dogs, they were all pointer cross types, at least one had a collar but suspect they are now homeless and very hungry. If you live around the Escape Beach area be careful with your Cats.

Sorry to hear about your cat and i hope that it pulls through. I have had 2 different pointers appear in my garden, one monday, one tuesday, hunting type dogs. I think there wil be a lot more as the hunters are getting rid of them now they have outgrown the purpose x

Thanks for your kind words. Sadly, Roxy passed away earlier today. She will be sorely missed.

Also very sorry to hear this , in Baspinar we have seen also abandoned pointers, normally one or two days after, the Sunday hunt.

I am told they dump them on the spot if they dont return the prey. Is this correct?

Commiserations! I was not a "cat person" until one adopted us 7 months ago. I would hate it to happen to her, but understand there is little to be done by way of prevention.

Ahhh... I'm so sorry... we live in the same area, just up from Escape, and have noticed a lot of dogs wandering of late... We have one dog, for whom we had to pay out a fortune for railings to keep her in, and keep other dogs out... I'm glad we did now...

I wish there was something we could do - the poor dogs just seem to be being dumped left right and centre. I can only assume it is the hunters who have no further use for them.

Again, I really am so so sorry to hear of your loss.

Anna. X

Pugwash, I find your comment inane, spelt correctly, of course it suffered, it sadly died of it's injuries.

Very sad Yonca, but the kindest thing that you can do for those dogs is to not feed them outside your house. I had the same here 3 years ago and sure enough some one laid poison right outside my house and my own dog ended up poisoned, luckily survived it. Is there an animal rescue close to you in Famagusta who might be able to help?

Oh god Im so very sorry to hear your news. I have seen and fed so many lost souls this week in and around the lapta strip. Im scared for any that find their way into my garden as mine are terrtorial. The little one i just fed was just lying on the pavement, so sad and starving. i know in my heart it will probably be dead by morning. The two that just wandered in to our garden this week just cowered when we went near them. I cant beleive this so cruel system x

I am so very sorry to hear this. How heart-breaking.

We live above Escape Beach on the mountain side next to Abaras bungalows and have 2 cats and 2 dogs.

I am sure that whilst in our garden our cats are safe but the majority of the time they are around the site in the fields.!!

What is the answer though as 1 in particular is not an indoor cat .....

We love all animals but I couldn't stand for anything similar to what you have gone through to happen again....not to mine or anyone elses.
