Heard today that Esentepe will soon sport a branch of Limassol Bank with an ATM where electric bills, etc. can be paid.

Location opposite the mosque (where the Phoenix Kebab shop was).

Anticipated opening 20th December.

Good news. Do you know if it will be open every day or just a couple of days a week like Iktisat in Tatlisu?

Bootisme,

Don't know for sure, hoping it will be every day...

Sienna,

Yes, it's on the corner nearest to the Post Office.

This is great news for the village.

It would be useful to be able to get lire and sterling from the ATM.

Any chance?

Magicart,

We think so too. Gunay, the Muhtar, is going to be working at the bank. We need to petition him and the bank to provide this facility - Euros would be good too.

Will you need an account with the Limassol Bank in order to draw cash or is it like the UK where any major bank card is accepted?

Yes, I heard this from local friend when over in October. The bank in Kyrenia said it would be about

a month (means several months!) It will certainly be a help for those of us not over there all time.

NCMan,

Who owns the bank goes to how stable the bank is... and whether you think large deposits are wise if you don't know the answer.

Limassol bank is the longest established Turkish Cypriot bank currently trading in the TRNC it was established in 1939. It currently employs 168 people (maybe a few more for the new branch). It’s web site is not in English yet but they are working on this. For those of you who can read Turkish this will take you to their financial statement / accounts for 2009.

http://www.limasolbank.com/bilanco/2009/Aktif%202009.htm

It does not look like a bank that is about to disappear but if you are worried / cautious keep within the government grantees (see the section on Bank Accounts banks in the North Cyprus Money Guide for further explanation of the guarantees http://www.ncmoneyguide.info/?page_id=11 you will need to register (for free) to see this content)

To compare the TRNC banks go to http://www.ncmoneyguide.info. This web site currently shows you the basics info of all the banks and their TL interest rates collated in one place.

Re 21 @ Rogerdoger

It is Turkish Cypriot see post 19 and their web site http://www.limasolbank.com.

Will be NO problem with GC airports.
