Are real Christmas trees for sale somewhere here? If so does anybody know where I can purchase one please?

I have never had a plastic Christmas tree before and I don't want to start now!

Thanks

I hope you find one, the thought of a plastic tree fills would fill me with dread, would rather go ...alternative to a real christmas tree would be branches sprayed silver and decorated....good luck with your mission...........

That's how I feel as well, especially putting it away to gather dust every year & then dragging it out again year after year..

Fingers crossed!

The Forestry Department sell Christmas trees. I don't know when they start and the trees are not exactly as we know from the UK - but they are real.

See DC's Girne map for location.

What do you do with the tree after Christmas?

I think the cutting down of trees for Christmas is on a par with the slaughter of Millions of Turkeys, even if they are both purpose bred....It's just not something I believe in....In the old days people had Goose at Christmas,If they could afford it,Turkeys were introduced from the USA...... Christmas Trees are a German tradition.........In my view Christmas has become an unnecessary over indulgence.....Specially when so many people are starving in the World..

MartinD41/mollycorbin - We have a farmer nearby who recycles his own christmas trees. You choose one you want (size price etc.) then he digs it up and pots it for you. He will then deliver it if necessary and once christmas is over you return it and he replants it for it to grow again. His prices are much much cheaper than buying and so everyone is happier.......I suppose at the end of the day he just hires out his trees.......good result all round....

MartinD41 I've always had a Capon at Christmas personally.

Jovial John I just read that apparently the Forestry Department thin some trees from the forest every year and these are sold as 'Christmas Trees' which is why they don't look exactly like the ones we buy in the UK which I assume are grown for their exact purpose?

In my opinion one would still be better than a plastic one & also if they are thinning the weaker trees out anyway it isn't really 'an unnecessary over indulgence' as MartinD41 puts it but more helping the Forestry Department recycle some trees! Hopefully they use the money from selling the trees towards looking after the forests in Cyprus..

Shrimp that is a good idea thanks for the info
