Been quite a few times now.............food very good; staff really good and friendly without being over the top; prices are very good, I like the decor and the music. A really refreshing experience, this will be a regular eating place for self and hubby. If you haven't been, give it a try.

Steak and Ale pie made with lean beef in a rich gravy topped with puff pastry, thinly sliced carrots, cauliflower cheese, marrow slices in a very light batter with roast potatoes. How can could I not eat that !!! Delicious

We had a meal there a couple of weeks ago. Nice atmosphere and tables well laid out. Service was a little slow, but I don't think they'd been open that long so I dare say they were still bedding in with things. The meal was very nice however and very good prices too. A nice touch was the chef came out and spoke to everyone about their meal. Overall very good and we will be back.

went on sunday 11 of us booked in with 1 weeks notice. No salmon starter left and no steaks either. I would have presumed by now that they Know what roughly most people go for (steaks/pies etc). In general a party of 11 may have 4-5 steaks as they represent extremely good value as with the salmon. It would have been nice to have had either than neither and could i suggest you hold back some items you Know people require given the advance booking. Also in my opinion a PIE is encrusted all round with pastry and not just a stew (which was nice) with a seperate lid on it. Would still go again as this is only a little view. The liver was great ... can we have mash next time as it goes extremely well instead of roasties, would also go great with the pie.

Susie Yes I was there on Sunday too, arrived earlier than expected and so the full menu was available. I must say we saw most other meals being wheeled out and there was an awful lot of salmon starters and steaks being served so I would not crticise them for that, maybe book what you want in advance and they would put it by for you if you are dining later in the day? . BTW the meal was excellent and I will be returning.

would do that next time. unfortunately it was our first visit so did not realise what was on the set menu. Having said that 3 starters and 3 mains on the set menu is pretty restrictive due to the missing dishes. whatever ....will go again.

Susiesusie, Thanks for your understanding. Sundays are proving very popular and we were booked out again this last Sunday. The salmon and the steak were very popular and the demand surprised us. We have taken that into account for next Sunday, which is already filling-up, and this shouldn't happen again. If you want to "book" your meal when you make your reservation, then pease do so, by all means. Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Hi Susie, Yes it is a bit awkward to order in advance when you have not seen the menu!! I think they also said if you want something in particular, that given enough notice, they will cater for you, I believe they recently cooked Beef Wellington for a party?

It's a bit if a drive for some people to see for themselves if coming from say the Lapta area, wouldn't want to turn up only to realise there's nothing on your menu that they might like (although I'm sure that wouldn't be the case!) Can you give us an example of the type of things you have on your menu and some prices? Thanks.

We tried to book for Christmas Eve but apparently too late as fully booked. They will need to extend if they carry on being so popular.

I will upload our menu and you can decide for yourself. If you want to order when you book, that's fine by us. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve are always popular dates and bookings for these days, wherever you decide to go, should not be left for much longer. Glad all of you had a nice meal and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

What were the 2 items? All our ingredients are fresh and we are sometimes surprised how popular some of them are. If there is anything in particular that you want from the menu, please reserve it when booking.

Funny!?Have been in the restaurant many times now but have yet to see Vaughan there once!!You take the accolades but never put in an appearance, maybe you should don an apron and help out serving tables!!

I am very much a behind the scenes person when it comes to the restaurant and I NEVER "take the accolades" which rightly belong to the hard working chef and staff. You surely don't need to see me, with or without an apron.
