can any of you locals help me identify 2 restaurants my sister has told me to visit in kyrenia, the directions are very iffy but here goes,

!st one; when you get to the harbour walk towards the castle, then turn right up a slight hill, turn right again and the italian restaurant is in a lovely courtyard

(told you it was iffy)

2nd one; out of the jasmine court(this is our hotel) turn right along main road walk for about 10minutes large chinese restaurant by a roundabout.(it 's not getting any better is it?).

Anyone got any ideas????

I think the first restaurant was called the Brasserie which was run by an italian chef(really very good ) Guido and his wife , but they have now closed that and have a new deli/restaurant in alsancak (have yet to go there but looking forward to it after going to the Brasserie for a few years , otherwise it could be the restaurant just down from it , but the name escapes me , hope that sheds some light on it , and sorry I don't know the chinese , hope you find them and you could also check out Efendis in the turkish quarter of Girne , the food is WONDERFULL , you won't be disappointed and Andy and his staff are amazing .

I would imagine you mean the chinese garden opposite the Ship Hotel which would be a 10 min walk from Jasmine but there is no roundabout, and I don't know of any chinese near a roundabout.

Hi,

There is a got italian in Lapta on the main road on the left hand side you have to go through the Lapta strip to get to it its called Vena Vici I think thats how you speel it nice food or Di figaro is one of my favourites which is in Karalongulu thats not how you speel it. The later is not Italian mainly med food.

It is also worth a trip upto Kybele in Bellapais lovely setting in the Abbey with lovely views down to Girne. Regards Ive.

Hi jenny , I don't think you would want to walk it from Jasmine , i would definetly get a taxi, also another great restaurant really close to Efendi's is The Grapevine which is near the Colony , again definetly worth a try , it comes highly recommended

I think you mean Guidos Deli and Bistro - there is a thread on here about this restaurant a couple of pages back. Well recommended as I understand.

THE CHINESE BY JASMINE IS STILL OPEN. EFENDIS IS A GREAT RESTAURANT ALSO. THERE IS A GOOD CHINESE BY ROCKS HOTEL CALLED THE DRAGON. The first one is definitely the Set Restaurant. It is set in the grounds of a very old building and has a lovely courtyard.

Jenny - The Italian is definitely 'Set Italian' set in a lovely old courtyard. They own a sister restaurant called Set fish which is on the harbour front - literally down the alley from Set Italian. this is also very good for fresh fish and lovely views of the harbour. The Chinese is indeed the 'Chinese Garden' and is opposite the ship hotel. You will find there are many restaurants to choose from - and try venturing out to places like Bellapais where there are some great places. If you ask your hotel concierge for details on Kybele, Abbey Bell Tower, Tree of Idleness, and Bella Moon, they will send a car to your hotel to collect you - and take you hoe afterwards at no extra cost. Have a great time in N Cyprus - it is a lovely place.
