I had a similar problem last year, I lowered a long wooden brush handle slowly down to the snake ,it coiled itself around the pole , I then took to it to scrub land and it uncoiled and slithered away. Just take care. D.

Magolina. If you still have the problem at breakfast time tomorrow telephone 0533 846 2762 and I will come and try and remove it for you. I am no snake expert or snake charmer but was taught by Amerindians in the jungles of South America how to deal with them short of using a machete.

Have you tried putting a long enough tree branch down to the pump room floor level - one long enough so it protrudes through the pump room entrance hole?

Leave the door open and put a smaldering piece of wood there, it will soon climb out as it went in. Snakes are like my cousins south of the border, they don't like fire or smoke.

John, if your cats are as contankerous as mine, they are likely to deal with the snake, then get stuck in Tenakoutou's tree !

If it's a black one just grab hold of it yourself, they are incapable of biting you as their fangs are way back in their mouth. If it's not black then run like bloody f**k

I guess we have now, between us all, found the solution. So far we will have in this pump room a broom handle, a tree, a shotgun, some cats, a fire, and possibly a bloke who had to be rescued from the Amazon rainforest by helicopter. If the snake is not black the safety plan is to run like f...k. Presumably straight through a wall into the balance tank or pool. Is this why the Wildebeest (bless her) calls me "Mr Bean" !
