The TRNC has the opportunity to become a member of the European Union, in your opinion, do you think the present TRNC constitution gives foreign residents the same opportiunities and legal rights as TRNC citizens as other EU member states do?

Please feel free to give examples where the TRNC constitution is equal to its EU neighbours, and examples where it is predjudice towards foriegners.

If you could post a copy of it that would be useful. Having said that, it is likely to be abolished in the next year or so anyway and replaced by a constitution for a united Cyprus. Which in any case would be subordinate to the EU.

TRNC constitution is predjudice towards foriegners

Foriegners pay more than TRNC citizens for electricity meters /connections water meters /connections .

Foriegners have to apply for permission to purchase property TRNC citizens do not .

Subordinate to the EU, I will assume that means that any changes to the constitution that affects foriegners and changes laws on rights of passage are put forward to the EU for approval before coming into force, I do not think the GC government asks the EU for approval on any grounds of local governance or run the country under the guidelines set out by the EU for member states.

Would we be leaving the UK in droves if the British Govenment acted in the same manor as the TRNC Government in looking after there own people first? THINK NOT.

It is our choice to have a home in the TRNC so we accept and abide by their rules.

Four more youths killed in Birmingham from gang killings over the last few weeks. These gang members have no chance of jobs, can hardly read or write.. can't get into college due to their Police Records so no job prospects and a life of crime in front of them. Think about it, to scared to say the obvious !!!!!!

Aslan,

As we both know that depends on what level of governance we're talking about. The big stuff comes from Brussels.

To be fair I think that applies to a few on here as well.

What part of UK law do you think we should change in order that we can discriminate financially or in any other way against people who are not ''our own''.

as for the rules that we are supposed to have agreed to live under, could you please supply a list. I wasnt aware of many of these ''rules'.' Up to now I thought the discriminatory practises were allowed only because the law didnt prevent them from happening.

As you say we all should agree to to them before purchasing property (that would really help the propery market!!!),maybe it would be an idea to publish them for clarity. That way potential investors could not claim later that they did not know of these practises.

Pipie has already supplied us with a couple of the rules we could publish in the rule book.

'Foriegners pay more than TRNC citizens for electricity meters /connections water meters /connections '.

'Foriegners have to apply for permission to purchase property TRNC citizens do 'not

Agree with Fire Starter that trnc is not rascist, but Govt, by allowing such practises, is. By legitimising discriminatory practises by calling them rules ,only encourages other bad practises.
