I NEVER sign this type of thing - couldn't sign this one quick enough - sadly though - being a realist, I know it won't change a thing - yet another family destroyed by jobsworths that don't have the brains they were born with, truly heartbreaking...........

Not signed, and I am surprised at some of the comments on here based on a blog!!! Professionals get things wrong and make mistakes, but if I have to make a decision I will go with the professionals and not a do-gooding blogger looking for a story. I have worked with people with Aspergers Syndrome (part of the autistic spectrum) and they can be very challenging and difficult to control. Not because they are bad people but because they cannot see the effect their actions may have on others. The people trying to help them certainly do not do it for the pay, which is derisory. They (in the main) want to help those less fortunate than the rest of us.

Msg 1.....IMHO...I suggest that unless you have formal training in the field of Autism, you should refrain from passing comment on this complex situation....The " Layman's "advice or opinion in this case is NOT Valid....

Why would you hope that? I would not bolster the bloggers ego any further by adding anything. The sufferers matter, and that's all! What is your experience of people within the Autistic Spectrum?

apc2010- I worked for many years with people who have autism and "challenging behaviour"- believe me if I was treated and expected to fit into a box I too would have challenging behaviour. The challenges come because people in general do not LISTEN. After working for many years as a hands on carer I became disillusioned by the "care system" and became an advocate working with people who are being forced to live where they don't want to and to receive treatment they don't want. I worked with a young man who was forced into the identical situation to Stephen and has ended up in a secure unit, he too used touch to highlight he wanted some attention , he too was classed as assaulting staff. This was in a specialist assessment unit- usually assessments take 8-10 weeks- his took 18months and he is still being assessed but in another unit. My friend Si still cannot understand what he did wrong because he feels , like Stephen , that he is being punished. If you have contact ---- continued

Continued- If you have contact or a way to contact Stephen's father he needs a specialist advocate to speak for him. The service should be free and available in all areas of the UK. If you search the net look for A4A advocacy. Stephen's voice , by law, must be heard. Social Services should have suggested that he needs an advocate.I truely hope he gets his voice heard.
