Hi Thank you for your reply but yes I did look at that thread and maybe its just me being a dumb blonde but I can't seem to get me head round all this banking, why could things just be simple like years ago when you just walked into a bank and said here's a fiver I want to open an account, now days you have to take so many documents and ID papers and thats in the UK so I am not looking forward to that side of things when I get there although I am sure they are all very competant I am just worried I will not have all the relivant documents hence the Tax File.

Hi again,

All we're taking is our passports, documents relating to the property purchase and the cash in Sterling. If I forget anything I'll sort it out there, but I think they'll open an account for you from what I've read.

Opennd HSBC bank account about 3 years ago and another in May this year in Girne took along passports and done it in about half hour, that was after waiting 45 minutes to be seen. if you can contact a lady at HSBC Girne, called Julie Dawn Younger make an appoinment with her, sorry dont have her contact details, maybe somone else on this thread can get the details for you.

Helot

Try CreditWest Bank. Always extremely helpful and rarely you have to wait. There is a branch in Karaoglanoglu. I am looked after by Naci Karanlik (pronounced Naji). Nothing is to much trouble. He is from London and speaks perfect English. As others have said, just need passport ID etc.

Julie's email address is juliedawnyounger@hsbc.com.tr

The last few times I've been in HSBC it has been virtually empty. Probably because most of their customers have gone elsewhere.
