LONDON: Where can you get the best finger-licking Indian food in Britain? After several cities prepared elaborate binds over months, a competition to adjudge the Curry Capital of Britain 2010 has zeroed in on Glasgow, beating stiff competition from Bradford, Leicester, Birmingham and Wolverhampton. As Indian food aficionados in Glasgow revelled in the honour, there was a mood of gloom in Leicester and the other cities, where Indian food is a major draw and a money-spinner, despite recession and credit crunch. Great city everything going for it, retail, restaurants, the envy of the world. Robert

Have to agree with this award. The best curry I have ever had was in Glasgow town centre. And believe me , I have munched through more than my fair share of rubys over the years.

You lot ever been to birmingham, sparkhill full of curry houses. Tettenhall road now that takes me back.. I remember going to a curry house in glasgow many years ago with guido, great meal but so surprised when the waiter indian spoke with a broad gllasgow accent, never noticted it in brum , cradley, dudley kiddi or wolverhampton xxxxx

The Shish Mahal in Gibson Street was one of the first and better ones in Glasgow. I have got their recipe book and it is written with some Scots expressions in such as "dinna be feart ta..." etc. Indian food in Dubai is good also as there are so many Indian/Pakistanis cooking authentic dishes. Manchester also has a good reputation, or used to.
