A friend of ours had a walking hoilday in TRNC - on his return to the UK he became very ill and ended up in hospital. Despite his wife being a doctor nobody could understand what was wrong with him - that's when my partner (Arthur) said it coud be sand fly fever - and it was. Please take precautions and use appropriate lotions.

Try http://www.cyprus-trekking.com

They walk every Sunday, early start. Mainly Turkish Cypriot, but some north Europeans. Very friendly group.

If you check the web site look at "Yuruyus Programlari" 19 Aralik 2010 is December 19th.

I have used "Google Translate" to translate, see below. Looks like they assemble at Ledra Palace for bus to Monastery at Esentepe and walk there. Suggest you phone the guide number to check details.

3) CİKKO MONASTERY - Esentepe:

December 19, 2010, 07:00 Sunday morning at the Ledra Palace border gate movement.

Inclined road, approximately 4:00 hours.

(Corresponding guide: İlgüz Tayyareci, Tel: 0533 8699583).

NOTE: A week before the records should be made to go by bus

Hope this helps. Good walking.
