Turkey's chief negotiator for European Union (EU) accession talks has said his country was ready for any contingency over the Cyprus issue. "Turkey is ready for any outcome that might emerge. A comprehensive solution, an indirect solution, a deadlock or a new crisis. Turkey's EU process do not hinge on Cyprus issue and Turkey does not take such threats well," Egemen Bagis told Greek Cypriot daily, Simerini. Bagis said Turkey could only open its ports and harbors to Greek Cypriot vessels if the EU honored the promises it had made and taken simultaneous steps. http://www.worldbulletin.net/news_detail.php?id=67322

Bagis said Turkey also had a contingency plan if ongoing settlement talks on Cyprus failed again. "Turkey always has a plan B, a plan C or D. We are ready for anything. Turkey has achieved a 11 percent economic growth rate. It has built roads, hospitals and schools. It increased its per capita income in the last eight years. And it made all these without the EU," he said. Bagis said Turkey made significant progress on its path to becoming an EU member, adding that Europe had seen its credibility shaken because of failing to fulfill the commitments it had made for Turkey I wonder what plan b,c or d are ..????

Turkey is well aware that it holds all the ace cards, the EU is now a poisen chalace, that needs Turkey more than Turkey needs the EU. The increase in poulation of mainlanders in North Cyprus, and an economy booming at home give them little interest in the Cyprus prob being resolved. They now have voters on the ground in NC to sway local decissions the way they want, and have the funds to persuade the corrupt political T/C bigots to tow the line. The intricate puzzle will be completed with a broken EU the ROC going bust and Turkey playing the pupet master and having its demands met. D.N
