Reading a newspaper article about the Engagement i thought i f i was her i wouldnt want a second hand engagement ring especially as it brought so much unhappiness to its previous owner. Better a new one and wear the sapphire as a gift but a dress ring. What do you think?

well I think differently, I think it was a fabulous genture on the part of Prince William, and she is brave enough to wear it. (on a lighter note - UK is in a resession and its saves money!!!!!!!)

I was given my mother-in-law's engagement ring when I became engaged. It is a 'family' ring and I was supposed to give it to elder son when he engaged - but my daughter-in-law will only receive it when I die! A good gesture from Prince William - Katie Middleton is not 'brave' to wear it - she obviously does not believe that rings (or any other piece of jewellery for that matter) carry good or bad vibes.

I think they are in love and are old enough as a couple to decide for themselves an issue like this. Tradition is strong not just for royalty.

Listen to what the priest said. In fact I was at a wedding recently and the vicar said exactly the same thing. The reason why the certificate is given to the man is because in less than 7 years she can then say "can I have it back, I want a divorce". We all had a good laugh.

I don't think the ring had anything to do with Diana's tragedies. I waited nearly 17 years for my engagement ring (my own choice) and my mother-in-law had it made for me from one of her earrings! (Well, it was Victorian, multi-diamond and set in white gold)
