"Northern Cyprus is also very welcoming to foreign residents, meaning British retirees can enjoy a good quality of life in their later years" Have to agree with that Dave.

And the New Year speech from our glorious leader: Abolish all mortgages, return properties to rightful owners. All properties to immediatlely receive normal rate water and electricity and no-one will ever be charged more that a local, all goods will have price clearly marked on it. NO bar to put more than 150% mark up on their beverages and Justice will be for all. Then I woke up and so should Jordans.

When I first came to the island in 1970, I decided this was where I wanted to die. 13 years later, my dream came true when my husband retired prematurely from the Royal Air Force. To this day we have not regretted our decision to make North Cyprus our home. Every day i thank my lucky stars that I am here. Even my offspring have bought properties here, and are planning to live on this beautiful island. We did our research for at least 4 years before actually purchasing and building our home. In those days it took 2 years to get our deeds, and there were very few foreigners purchasing at that time. Having lived in the South, I have no desire to visit, and would be happy to see the line close again.

Belgium rocks, especially if you can speak French and/or Dutch. Frites, mayo and beer while wandering around ancient Bruges and nearby villages does it for me. Avoid Brussels if you can, though, but don't forget the Ardennes and Great War battlefield tours.

'High quality of life' Tell that to the Gary Robb fan club or those refused PTP, those whose homes have been repossessed by the banks because their developers took out mortgages on their homes without their knowledge...

There is an old phrase. Kechi guldu Koyuna (When the sheep lay on the groung its private parts was visible, so the goat had a good laugh) - I hope that makes sense. Buth there are over 100,000 people with title deeds problems in the south with exact same problems with builders. Even when they are the Legal Government. As much as I sympathise with the suffering of the Brits in the north, I really don't think that the Greek Cypriots can poke their their ore in what is going on. Get your back yard clean first before your sort out ours. Thanks.
