I have 2 dogs that need a good home, they are 5 years old and were inherited. they completely ignore each other so can be split, there is a kennel for each with a basket and cushion and feeding bowl, after they have been with you for 2 weeks I will gladly donate £400 each for their care and expenses.

I will gladly e-mail photos if you can leave your address.

Kill the dogs, and give £800 to a children's charity of your choice.

Children in need are a much more deserving cause than a few canines.

I like dogs, but when there are too many of them the only sensible course of action is a cull. A vet can put them down humanely for you.

Shouldnt that post be removed? I dont think your opinion was being asked on the worth of a life of a dog compared to a child, open some other thread or clear off!

"missing the point" If you feel that strongly about the subject open a thread yourself entitled put dogs down to save children - discuss

Dont hijack someone elses thread, theres far too much of it on here!

So someone takes the dogs and looks after them for 2 weeks get the £800 and then abandon the dogs. This type of thing has been done in the past.

I think msg2 was a bit blunt but Geoff has a point. I have to agree that there are just to many dogs looking for homes and not enough people to give them loving homes. Take a trip up to KAR and you will see what I mean. Kyrenia is full of stray dogs and there seems to be new arrivals every week on some complexes. I am not saying who is to blame but there needs to be a cull and these dogs need to be put to sleep humanely. I am fully aware of the local feelings on this but it doesn't stop them from poisoning them does it? Surely this must be a better solution than all of these poor starving animals on the streets.

Reading the theads,if someone has a better idea,I would like to hear it.The dogs were here,I dont know where they came from and do not do any harm.I wish to go away frequently and just feel that I cannot take them into the mountains and open the car door.I have tried KAR but they are not interested so any solutions would be appreciated.

Reading this thread has made me sick. Animals are so much nicer than people. They love you, they are loyal, they don't start wars and they all they really want is some human kindness. Maybe we should look at culling people instead...I could live with that.

All the people who are against the humane culling of these starving animals should be willing to put forward an alternative solution. I am a dog lover and have already made arrangements to adopt a dog as soon as I move to Cyprus but I am also a realist and realise that with so many stray dogs, it is only a matter of time before a child is attacked or a serious road accident is caused by them. It is not the dogs fault but the reckless owners who abandon them. In the UK most dogs are put to sleep within 14 days, if not rehomed or claimed by their owners and to be honest I think it is better than to starve on the streets.

The Butler ..It happens in other civilised countries. The dog wardens in england round up strays keep them in compounds/dog homes then if they cannot house them after six weeks ,it is to the vets for the little needle. All to do with economics....

Not one offer or realistic suggestion, if £400 does not tempt anyone, what would you

have to offer to give the poor dog a chance. When I read that people are trying to rehouse

their dog ,for whatever reason, would they let me know the results

Message 22 (horselover). Your idea is a little harsh but if you can assure me the kiddies will be done away with in a humane way, then I might just support you.

I think that this is going off track ...... this person is simply trying to find homes for 2 unfortunate dogs.

We all know the problems here and we know that many are caused by locals BUT as time goes by it seems to me that some Brits are just as stupid with their decisions regarding these unfortunate animals.

It also seems to me that one of the main problems here is that caused by people and their short sightedness when they get an animal be it street dog or pedigree. Don't forget we are talking here about 2 dogs that have been strays ..... what about Brits who go ahead and get pedigree animals and then want rid!!

Those have been on this site too!!

Re Tatum1: Correct, making the point there are two sides to this issue. An excellent debate about a quite controversial subject (dogs). The forum is all about such debate, and results in all of us seeing the other side of the arguments, and you never know sometimes changing one's mind.

It looks as if a plain request to re home two dogs has turned into a debate on wether we should cull children or what they do to stray dogs in other countries.I am mystified.

Dewgreen...you should be mystified, this is a serious issue and I for one admire you for what you are trying to do for these dogs. At least you're not going to just dump them. Well done for showing some compassion. Happy Christmas and I hope that the dogs find their new forever home.

how long have you had the dogs why do you want rid of them and with you offering money you might be attracting the wrong type of people to pretend to look after them. sorry i cant solve your problem hope it works out

Dewgreen, that was my argument entirely after the second post, you want to do the best you feel possible for these particular dogs in your situation, we are not trying to solve the bigger problem here and that is why I get so fed up (and so must others) of every thread being hijacked by people wanting the big debate, take the debate to a thread where people wish to discuss it and leave others to do as they see fit. Come on in all honesty we can take that second message further and say lets all cancel our christmas and feed the starving in Africa, because thats the right thing to do.....

I have had the dogs for 1 year and have been trying for 1 year to re home them.I now find myself going to be out of the country more and more and just thought it might attract someone who would like a dog but was maybe thinking of the cost ,which I put at £400 per year with injections and food etc.It is not a perfect world and the fact that the wrong people may come forward is the chance I have to take. The reason I am waiting 2 weeks before parting with the money.

Maybe some of these dog loving England living people could sponsor these dogs and all the others in the kennels in Cyprus . I think sleep time is needed for most of the strays shame the government doesnt see it as a problem.

as my mum always said sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

On the news this morninga forty year old woman mauled to death by a Belgian Mastiff. this breed was thought to be no longer sold and authirities are checking to see if it is a cross.breed and where it has come from.

You think you have problems with dogs out there in TRNC.WE have 6MILLION of them here in the UK and I wonder how many pay the license fee for there pet, that is 1 per 10 head of population,incredible..
