You will never get the speed you've paid for. Don't believe speedtest, nethouse found a way to show the speed higher than you actually have.

they r blocking all ports, i can't launch game server or ftp/http file server.. speed is low, costs a lot of money, and they don't even provide you with that pathetic packages they pretend to offer. And they think people are so stupid that can't check internet speed? lol

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1079560528.png Follow the link - I pay for 1Mb and am happy with the service.

Sometimes it is more and sometimes it is less but that is down to traffic loading at particular times - this test was taken less than 5 mins ago and traffic loading at this time of night is high. I am on a wireless link.

So please explain exactly how they are cheating and please, please give a bit more detail about how often your speed has been checked in a 24 hour period and at what times.

Not starting any sort of argument here but there are lots of people on the net that have no clue at all about networks and providers and how short cuts are made - neither do they have any clue about speed tests and exactly what they mean. Generally it comes down to the individual, if they are happy with the service provided then it is worth the money - if not then change providers but who will you go with to be certain that your expectations are achieved or exceeded?

I don't know about 1mbps package, but 2 mbps from nethouse is really like 1, speed test measures speed only for a few seconds, and in first few seconds download and upload speed are on its maximum and then it starts to fall, it is clearly shown in the video. I was downloading stuff for about 10 hours (all night) and the average speed was 1mbps, and it is not because their line is oveloaded, because ping (measured with all europe and USA) seems to be low and stable.

so if there is no overload, they limited the speed artificially!

sk1tman - are you paying for a dedicated 2mbps link? If not then no ISP *anywhere* can guarantee that you'll get your maximum speed the entire time, which is why dedicated links are offered at a much higher cost. I watched the video and it seems your speed halves after a short while, it's more than likely that they allow you to burst to your maximum speed for a short period before dropping down to the lower minimum rate of 1mbps. It's normal for an ISP to use a fall-back method to limit download speed, it isn't however normal for it to be that low..

As all ISP providers they probably state upto speeds i used to be subject to over charging from aol for 4mb but only ever got 2mb.

The only way to test the speed of your connection is using speedtest for example however its not all about up and down its also important to see ping results as this can very and is aimed more at streamed data like youtube and Skype etc.

A pure up and down will give you a rough idea but dont rely on it.

If you are using Satalite this can also vary on weather conditions and the provider genrally have a NOC Router that collects packets and sends them in lumps as supposed to ADSL that streams.

What you can do if you have Windows is download a widget that monitors your connection so you can see what speeds your achiving while using it and not just using a online test.

- are you paying for a dedicated 2mbps link? -yeah, i am on cable which goes directly to nethouse station, so the quality supposed to be better adsl or wifi, and it also costs more, that's why i was surprised when i didn't even get 2 mbps speed, but then after some tests, i got they always slow connection down if i've downloaded more than 4 -5 mb (which is only size of a small mp3 song)

RE msg 4, sk1tman: (...) I was downloading stuff for about 10 hours (all night) and the average speed was 1mbps, (...)

▶ Maybe you should ask Nethouse Networks if they consider that "fair use" (read your contract).

Yes thats correct, there is a speed option called burst. They give you the requested speed for a short time (about 1 minute) then they drop you down to the half speed. You cannot check it with the classical speed test pages. You have to start a continuous download from a fast server and look at the statistics for your real speed.

Only HOTSPOT packages has BURST. Because hotspot service designed for web surf and email... not for downloading from torrent.

if you are using WDS Service , please send your username to noc @ nethouse.net

I would recomend changing the Utorrent ports just in case they are listening out for standard TCP and UDP protocols.

Also if your downloading via the internet try using free file download software that doesnt just do a single connection.

I have used download managers before that open multiple streams and also supports resume so you could get away with running that or if all else fails just stop and start the download as it supports resume it certainly would be quicker than leaving it on over night.

It may also be worth thinking of proxy server as all your data will be passed through a proxy and converted nto through your isp.

For example if youtube strams through http protocol without slowing down etc it could just be listening out for specific packets using certain protocols.

If you whant to try proxy surfing try ccproxy its free but you would need a pc anywhere else in th world that gets a good connection (not as you have now) and a static ip to connect to

Download acceleration

Free Download Manager splits files into several sections and downloads them simultaneously, allowing you to use any type of connection at the maximum available speed. With FDM download speed increases, or even more!

Nethouse, isn't the internet connection used for watching videos as well? When I start watching a video the speed is fine. After 10 seconds the connection seems bad and there is no way I can watch a Youtube video without interruptions. For e-mails and simple internet browsing I do not need such an expensive connection...

I have the same problem with youtube, and any other streaming video site... I thought i would be able to watch HQ videos without buffering on 2mbps package, but thats what i got. A connection for sending e-mails and web browsing, for the price of the high speed broadband service.

getting worse. Takes ages for homepage to come on then sometimes impossible to navigate away. Half the time I get the message "unable to retrieve data, try later" when I try to access e mails, hit refresh and lose connection all together. Skype hardly worth the effort. Can't wait for contract to finish, might not even wait that long, no wonder they gave "6 months free". They can keep that. Anyone have a better alternative?

Have to admit, I am paying for 1MB and that is consistently what I am getting. Used to be off a lot over this side, but of late has proven very reliable....Not cheap though, but with such competition in a very small market I doubt it will get much cheaper (not enough subscribers!).
