Sorry I cannot help you with details of a source but you may wish to check the ever changing laws as I was refused a MOT certificate until I had removed my towbar from my 4 X 4 and replaced 2 tyres which were no where near being shot, amongst other things. Also law/rumour that bull bars are illegal.

I too know someone who was refused an MOT until the tow-hook was removed... Make sure you get one with a bolt on hook for easy removal.

While we are at it.... where is the best place for good cheap tyres? 205/55 R16 size... any recommendations? or places to avoid (you know, one price for locals another for ex-pats that sort of thing).

Groucho, the tyre business, located on the left of the coastal road from Girne to Lapta and more precisely some few hundred yards past the Alsancak Golden Lady has been the best I have found to date for tyres, puncture repairs, etc. The main player there is a young man of Russian origin who has always been helpful and negotiated with his father (the owner?) discount prices compared with others I used in earlier years. Obviously I cannot say that there is none better but you may wish to check it out.

Thanks Deputy & Groucho for the information. I also know someone who had mot refused for haviung a tow bar fitted but I think it is just the ball hitch which sticks out & is easily removed.

I still need someone to supply & fit a towbar to my Suzuki 4x4 thanks
