In another thread on C44 [ http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/52807.asp ] I replied to member cyprusjoker who started a thread about the vandalised Buffavento monument.

To give him even more information I mentioned two threads on "another board" (also known as "Nigel's board"), where the Buffavento problem, including illustrations, was discussed by a TC lady and me.

I tried to post my reply three times, but C44 just didn't accept my post - until I changed the links (omitting "Nigel's board"). I can't give you the real name of that board, because then again I couldn't send THIS post!

Isn't this going a bit too far, hasn't the animosity between the two boards become a bit childish?

P.S. By the way: just as childish as on "Nigel's board" where the software changes the name Cyprus44 in "Oops! etc".

Shouldn't there be a difference between promotion and information? What do you think?

Yes DC it is all very silly, each board has its own members and each has a place, it is not a contest.

Most boards have the same members. I am a member of three and go daily to read the latest news. I am disgruntled that this board will not allow links to the other 2, when the other 2 often have links back to here. Damn rotten shame and a little childish. Happy New Year everyone.

OK

Time for a few facts again

I draw your attention to rule 15 on this board, in particular the last line.

The reason this was introduced was because of one particular poster in his many re-incarnations would try to hi-jack any thread he could to advertise his new board. This is morally unacceptable as the owner of Cyprus44 has built this board up without resorting to such tactics and I liken it to the manager of Tesco's going into Sainsbury's and standing in the aisle with a placard advertising his own store.

If this had not have happened then we would not have introduced the new rule. It is all about being sensible and if people are not then we have to deal with it.

I just received a message (referring to my msg 1 in this thread) from Nigel Watson, manager of another Bulletin Board. He has lifted the ban on using "Cyprus44" on his board.

Maybe tonight, December 31, is a good moment to lift the ban on using his board's name here also.

"It is all about being sensible and if people are not then we have to deal with it."

Let's find out how sensible we all are, shall we?

I for one remember when Littlenige was posting here under 17 aliases and stirring up trouble. I have not gone to join his board and after those unnecessary antics don't wish to. Hans, you were one of the people jumping up about aliases, and still do. You really want to put your thumbprint of support on them?

If there's information you desperately want to share with Cyp 44 members why not post it here, rather than try and dictate which board they should support?

I'm with the mods on this one.

Sounds good to me I hate politics, accountants, estate agents and anything else that causes conflicts. Lets be nice to each other, after all it costs nothing and can mean everything.

RE msg 8, AnthonySmith: {...) Hans, you were one of the people jumping up about aliases, and still do. You really want to put your thumbprint of support on them? (...)

▶ I certainly don't. And, sorry, I don't see where I gave you or anyone else that impression.

(...) If there's information you desperately want to share with Cyp 44 members why not post it here, rather than try and dictate which board they should support? (...)

▶ On this board any good intention will be misjudged, misinterpreted and what have you. OK, so be it. At least I tried to normalise a ridiculous situation. I didn't dictate anything: in msg 1 I gave my opinion, based on examples - and I asked for the opinion of others.

I didnt realise such pettiness went on. If you dont like something, ignore it, it always works.
