| Today I received a phone call and this message (edited to fit in the message box and remove non specific information) 'As I understand matters, you have used an ATM in Northern Cyprus in the past to withdraw sterling and want to know what charges if any you will face. I am pleased to be able to confirm that the new FlexAccount policy change relating to cash withdrawals overseas does not affect the withdrawal of sterling from ATMs overseas. You will continue to be able to withdraw sterling from ATMs overseas free of charge. I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for the confusion you experienced surrounding this issue as a result of correspondence with Nationwide.' | Thanks Greenman, It's good to read facts from the company instead of the usual unsubstantiated speculation that we get on so many other threads. Regards, Ozbey. |

When I posted on a thread it was not unsubstantiated speculation but fact as I had a conversation with a manager at my Nationwide branch who assured me I would not be charged for withdrawing sterling and since arriving in NC on the 8th Dec I have withdrawn sterling from HSBC bank ATM with no charge.

Cheers, this is the conclusion most of us came to having tried and tested it, although you are never sure having received so many conflicting views from Nationwide staff. Lets hope they have now briefed their staff on the correct procedure.

Woodspeckie, Well done you. I appreciate all who post facts, and have no time for the speculators and rumourmongers.

Been back from Cyprus one week and today noticed on my latest Nationwide Statement a debit for 88 pence for non UK commission fee. I withdrew £200 approx 2 weeks ago.
