yes, a few years ago there was a mad dash to buy, just before the referendum, i think people thought property values would increase dramatically but it didn't happen. in our block of six apartments two were bought by the same UK resident (in different names) and have remained empty ever since, the owners have never set foot in the place! One is now advertised to rent and the other for sale, so i think the buyer has not made the 'quick killing' he/she expected! We're just miffed that he/she has not paid their share of communal lighting costs so we have dark stairwells! Other apartments were bought by Turkish Cypriots who work in Kyrenia and they are all lovely neighbours

I don't think the house prices are stagnant, but people are not making the quick killing the estate agents told them the would make if the purchased off plan and sold when complete. We bought to retire out here and took the longer view. The quallity of life and the 'stepping back in time' feel to the place, had a greater attraction than the over develloped alternatives is Spain and the dark side. I am of the opinion that in 5-10 years time you will see a greater return on your house prices in TRNC that you will in the UK or most other mediteranian alternatives.

I agree with Marvo, we bought for the long term too. I intend to retire to TRNC in a few years time, therefore the question doesn't come into my head much, but I suppose for others it moght. MC
