Have a standard roof tank with immersion heater. It takes about 4 hours to get any hot water. We renewed the element about 3 months ago. Please can someone recommend a decent system

It must be working after a fashion or you would never get hot water at all. Perhaps the element you had fitted is too "small". Call John Webster on 0533 836 7094.

muffin, Roof Tank and Immersion. This a very expensive way of heating water. Especially in winter when Tank is exposed to the cold weather. Hot water is lost very quickly. Why not try one of the instant water heaters , Bottle gas. you only heat the water you use, or if it is just for a shower, an instant heat elec shower.(no less than 7.5kw. You will find with either of the 2 suggestions, a big elec. saving.

Now it's a lot colder, it will of course take longer, but that is excessive, are you sure you have insulation round the tank, I found one with only one half insulated, and just the end of the other half stuffed, obviously someone (and I know where it was made because I got it from them - no-one on here) ran out of insulation and hasn't the brains to think any better. Check your voltage, if for some reason Kibtec have fiddled with the voltage, during one of their preventative maintenance fark ups (or are you on builders), low voltage will cause the element to become hugely inefficient. Also remember, if you used all the previous hot water, and there was no sun for a day, the element again has a lot more work to do.

Oh, and re: Vaughan's post, fit the biggest element you can get your hands on, bigger element for shorter time = smaller element for longer time The power usage (cost) is the same, and it heats up quicker if you need a quick shower before going out and forgot to switch it on..

muffin just spoke to one of our friends who opted for the instant elec shower, their elec bill is down 30 % in winter. We use the isnstant gas heater, somtimes a bit hit and miss with water feed tmperature variance, due to weather. But overall, a massive saving, and of course this does the whole of the domestic hot water.

Hi, ring Mr.Pipe, wonderful guy, cannot praise him or his workers high enough. Phone number is 05338746959 he comes when he says he is going to and is very reasonably priced. We have had quite a lot done by him and we have had nothing but good workmanship. He is not a rip-off merchant like some be they Cypriot or English.
