A friend of mine went on a pub crawl in Girne at New Year and he told me he was surprised at how many rent boys there were hanging around the bars.

Now I'm no prude and each to their own I say, although Sodomy isn't my cup of tea.

What I'd like to know is - are there any bars in Girne with rent girls hanging around?

Really?! I'm surprised at this and have never noticed. There again, I haven't been looking! I don't imagine that there are many girls about, not with all the 'nightclubs'. I think they have probably got it covered!

Maybe a lot of the aforementioned are off-duty TR soldiers. While a good few may be making up their meagre pay that way, it's easy to make mistakes. For example, the soldiers who you see going arm-in-arm down the street may not be what you think. It's how best mates go around in some parts of Turkey.

It's the seeming paradox that "girls" are relegated to out of town, out of sight, and are largely not Turkish/Cypriot, whilst Turkish/Cypriot "boys" ply their trade in the centre of town.

I'm not sure if this is a Muslim thing, a Mediterranean thing, or a bit of both.

You make a good argument, Roy, but my question is not who does what with whom and why, but the seeming different "tolerance" given between local "boys" and foreign "girls" that ply their trade in TRNC.

Personally I think all the bars should encourage 'available' fit kit in, would definitely increase takings, and make most places look a bit more cheerful, sponsor them with cheaper bar bills if necessary.

Having had to deal with such people in a previous life and for professional reasons only I can assure you that prostitution in general is a profession borne out of desperation or force and not something that should be encouraaged or made light of. (I do appreciate that most of the above comments are made in a joking manner )

Thats the point - working boys ARE to be found in and around bars in central Girne.

My question, in the name of equal tolerance is, why aren't working girls?

I would be suprised if Rent Boys were found in more than one or two bars although accept that it must go on as folk are basically the same the world over. I must say that I have never seen anything similar myself. There again, it is not something I go looking for. There must be female prostitution going on outside of the nightclubs as some of the more desperate/needy women would never come up to the standard to be accepted as a hostess (or call them what you like)

Depends what you like Ten, personally fat birds do nothing for me at all from a sexual point of view, but that doesn't make them unpleasant people of course, far from it.

However in the US there are internet sites dedicated to extremely fat girls/woman, many of which would have to fart to give you a clue, and some that can barely walk, that certain people crave for.

I can't see myself, it but it seems there are quite a few about, and many of the blokes wanting them are built like garden rakes!

There was a documentary on C4 about it a couple of years back, interesting to watch.
