at 1600 today Tues I tried to drive from Karsiyaka to Alsancak. Flooded road forced me off the main coast road so tried to get thru Lapta. MISTAKE! Avoid the Lapta area especially village centre as roads flooded and dangerous. Very deep water in parts. Lots of abandoned vehicles and mine gave up the ghost at one time. Be aware.

from what I could see walls are down and some of the older houses are probably running in water. Very serious situation for the village centre.

We had a waterfall feature running through the garden today and have asked the Tourist Board to make it a place of interest at this time of year.

Ironically there was a 50% partial eclipse of the sun over Cyprus today, peaking about 11am - I had hoped to see it.

It really is pretty bad. Our car conked out tonight after just a short journey. Goodness knows what it'll

be like tomorrow if this rain doesn't cease.

Our friends in Alsancak and Lapta are at their wits end, they cannot get out because their roads are just mud, walls have fallen and pump rooms are flooded. To top it all they have had 4 hours of powercuts and one friend has water pouring in from the ceilings upstairs.

A dolmus coming outof Ileli Supermarket didnt see Chris in our our car and ran into the side of him, can you imagine waiting for the Police in all that rain, surprise, surprise, the police said it was the dolmus drivers fault.

I was not with him but as I pointed out, his agility let him down this time.

Queensland Australia is where there is real flooding, and some of my family live there! hopefully your friends in Alsancak and Lapta are coping and are insured?

Many people in the UK are also flooded after leaving their homes for Christmas Holidays, a thaw set in, on their return they were flooded with burst pipes, water pours in from every nook and cranny, GinaC it's not nice, just bale out the water, and call your insurance company!

Hope the rain ceases for you all in the TRNC soon!

We are ok so far in Nicosia but the West of Girne is by all accounts getting hit hard. Our friends have insurance but being unable to get out of the house and water pouring in they are having a rough time.

Its been a nightmare, when we came home around 5pm there were many police cars and large lorries. They had our road blocked. I have since found out that the small holding opposit our road lost some of their livestock, thats bad. I agree Az has it really bad but we are not geared up for this. Can I saw a special thank you to our customers who did brave the elements. we did and you did not dissapoint us . keep safe xxxxxxxx

Has the municipality been maintaining the drains and water courses or was the rain unusually bad? This seems to be a regular happening.

The problem is not from not maintaining the drains but the rain water gushing down from the mountains.

hi denny my new best friend, i think its unusually early. Im scared for all the poor animals. Also for the shephards who need their livestock. My garden is a mini tsuimini. I went to the restauranr tonight and stupid me left my boots there so little shoes up to my knees in water. It much worse for people higher up . Im not sure yet which other areas were affected. We are living on a generator at present its a bloody nightmare xxxxxxxxxx

Still raining as I type. Been water gushing down our road and into the village all day. I went out about 1pm for a bit of shopping and the roads were strewn with mud and rubble then.

Lilli, our back garden is about 1 foot deep in water. The dog wanted to go out about 6ish. He had a look at the water, trotted further along the back patio, peered at it again. He kept doing that for a while until he could see some mud to jump on. Was straight on it and then raced thru the water. At least he came out clean Closest he's been to having a bath for ages 2 mins later he came knocking on my door upstairs. (I thought it was my dad knocking because it was 3 raps in time like a person) and ran in when I opened the door. He looked like a drowned rat.

All looks well in my garden, not that I've been outside yet. The only problem so far is the water has come in under the doors. Another job for my man!!!!, after he;s fixed the car.

problem is, it's raining again......Ohhh heck, I wonder what today will bring?

Daffodils the road is fine between Karsiyaka and Alsancak. I went down as far as the golden lady turning at 8.30 and came back to Karsiyaka at 10.00 with no problems.

i live near there too, so let us know where your mum is and between us we will find out. |the road from Lambousa towards Lapta village is problem-free so try not to worry too much. Not knowing is the problem i think.
