Can anyone advice please....... The ballcock in our mains water tank has started to vibrate and make a shuddering noise evey time we flush the toilets or run water. Has anyone else had this problem, if so can you advice on a remedy or should I have the ballcock replaced? Many thanks.

Pour Tuz Rhu on the float cylinder and arm to the float. If that doesn,t work change the ballcock complete.

If you don't want to take the whole flipping gizmo to bits to either clean or replace, fill the cistern to the overflow pipe and pour in a goodly dollop of limescale remover. From time to time, jiggle the ballcock - the abrasive action will help dislodge lime deposit. Try and leave it for a fair while [not specific!]. If WC needs to be flushed, pour half a bucket of water directly into the bowl, which will do the same jobbie as flushing by 'pulling the chain'. With any luck, the above action should stop your problematic ballcock 'swearing in church'!

Judy, I have had this too, Its the water pressure, locate the water meter, and turn the tap back until bibration stops(ie reduce the pressure).

its called a water hammer usually caused by a little stone or scale in the pipe. it can be quite decieving but if you can find the ballcock thats causing it then strip and clean or replace but when the hose is disconected aim it into a bucket and open the valve to flush the debri out of the pipe . if your at a loss call me and il sort it for you . 05338384636. happy new year xxx
