UK MPs continue to squirm following the furore regarding second home expenses and other fidddles. Announced that MPs can continue to claim on mortgage interest at public expense for second homes until 31 Aug 12. Then, they must repay a % of the profit even if they have not sold the second home. Many MPs say this is unfair. I agree it is unfair. They should have been made to repay every last penny the moment the scam became public then fall on their swords to retirement with reduced or no pension as would have been likely had it taken place 20 or more years ago. Why should a proven lack of honesty and integrity be rewarded at public expense. ? The mold was set when Mandleson, Meddlesome, Mandy, or whatever he is called, was allowed to get away with mortgage fraud and a lot more.

I can think of maybe two politicians who could be trusted not to be using their position to feather their nest... the rest? Up against the wall!
