Email from Windows re hotmail account

Has anyone received an email from Windows stating that if you do not verify your

hotmail ID, password, date of birth and your country or territory within one week your account

will be closed?



Received an email this morning and have to say it looks slightly suspect.



Was wondering if anyone else has received this as well.

It is a scam to get your details so they can hijack your account. Report it as phishing scam.

I had same one about a year ago, of course did not do anything about it apart from report as phishing scam and my hotmail account still ok almost a year later - better cross my fingers now!

DONT REPLY HAPPENED TO ME AND I LOST MY ACCOUNT TO THEM AND ALL CONTACTS

MORE OVER ALL MY CONTACTS RECEIVED HELP MAIL AND THIS WAS VERY DISTRESSING

ALL INCOME AND STORED MAIL DISAPPEARED AND THIS IS A SCAM ,WHEN I REPLIED LIKE A FOOL (MOTHER OF ALL FOOLS) I COULD SEE MY ACCOUNT BEING HIJECKED WHEN I OPENED MY MAIL THE NEXT DAY

Set your hotmail account to exclusive and most of these go into your junk folder. Been getting this message for months now, the same as facebook.

And what about the one I get 2 or 3 times every day telling me that I have 11 people on Facebook wanting a date with me - and I don't have a Facebook account.

And the one I also get 2 or 3 times every day saying "Dear johnba@yahoo.co.uk - someone is searching for you" - which should not be hard for them if they have my email address.

etc. etc. etc.

Very important piece of advice if I may. CHANGE your Hotmail PASSWORD immediately. Make it difficult for a hackers computer to guess it.

As basheer has said, I also had my email hijacked and lost all my contacts. I was lazy, kept the same easy remembered password 'it only happens to other people' and suffered the consequences.
