Can anyone advise where I can get information on vaccinations and malaria tablet requirements for Goa/India and where I can get them here in the TRNC please?

Go onto google and look for "masta travel clinics", they have all the latest information on what is recommended. Some injections are not available here in TRNC but I think most of the tablets are. I would advise against using Larium as the side effects can be horrendous (yes, I know they all have side effects but there's been a few too many suicides and people left with psychiatric damage from folk talking Larium for my liking). The best antimalarial (in my opinion) is Malarone. You can start taking it only 1 or 2 days before departure and for a week after your return. It is more expensive but it's worth it as some antimalarials can mean you have to stay out of the sun or completely cover up!!! Hope this helps

I agree with you about Larium. A friend of mine took it some years ago and while on holiday had a black out, never having had anything like that before taking the drug. She also had severe indigestion, so bad that it felt like a heart attack.

Definately Malarone......beware larium, if going off the beaten track you will need yellow fever.....really you should get advise as you may need other injections.....depending on what you may have had in the last few years.....

Check out the link https://www.tripprep.com/scripts/destina/Frameset.aspx?type=PS&countryID=86.

It has good information on immunizations for visiting various destinations. Hope it helps.

My partner and I stayed at The Leela Palace in south Goa in 2007. We started to take the malaria tabs but felt very ill and stopped taking them. We were very lucky - we didn't see or hear any mosquitos- neither did we get bitten.

I suppose it's a question of luck. We did go on excursions river trips etc. and weren't confined to the hotel. A bad tummy - now that's another story!!!!

My opinion is they are taking children out to Goa so its not worth taking chances.

I have been to Goa twice and had to take the tablets three weeks before we went and whilst we were there and for 2 weeks after we came back.Did not have one problem. There were hundreds of brits there who never even bothered with either the tablets or the jab,but I wonder what it would have cost had they gone sick cos there insurance would not pay out, because they did not take the necessary medicines.

Yellow fever is not required for Goa.Normally only required if you have transited a country that has yellow fever problems. We had to have it when we went to Gambia..If you check with your doctor he will tell you what is required...
