Has anyone any idea about the above? Do you just get your ticket and pay when you come back, or do you have to arrange with the guys in the booth to pay before you go?

Geoff, I have just done this last week, it says on the website that you should tell them when you park up and I tried but got the "no English" no worries though, returned and walked up with the ticket. Bill was 15TL for first day and 5TL for every consecutive day. Hope it helps

I also did this the last time I went back in November - only trouble was the bloody car wouldn't start on my return - the man in the booth used his jump leads on it - charged me 20tl but Hey I was back on the road & home in no time!

Geoff, have you considered leaving your car with Tiga Trading which is on the bypass near the airport? Their rates are competitive. Includes delivery to and from the airport. The vehicle is kept within a locked stockade, given a free valet, and a routine service should you require it whilst away. At the least you will not return to find flat tyres or flat batttery.

Hosw much is Tiga Trading, Deputy Dawg? Sounds an interesting idea. More info, please. Hope the authorities at Ercan don't mind!

Copy what the locals do.... leave your car on the grass fields just before the airport by the billboards. It will be ok there, I have experience.

Geoff,

We always use Tiga, they are fab.

You meet their man at the Garage which is on the last roundabout before Ercan. Drive to the airport with him, he takes your car back and then meets you when you return.

Last time they changed a bearing for me, kept my car safe for 3 weeks, cleaned it, drop off and pick up for next to nothing.

Maz, when I last used Tiga the price was the same as the airport charge though it was then further discounted as I had a car service whilst away. The telephone number is 0392 232 4848 - 49. Web http://www.tigatrading.com. The main man in Lefkosa is Tony and there is also a rep Hugh in the Girne area. A neighbour friend uses the service 4 times per year and he is best pleased with it.

Depends on what part of Alsancak you are in as to who your Muhtar is.

I am away on business for a few days and if you can wait until after the 29th Jan then I can help you go through the process as I live in Alsancak also.

My e-mail address is in my profile. I have to go through my renewal when I get back so we can do it together if you want.

Regards

AJ
