I have a brochure from Halos Trading (next door to Homefront in Alsancak by the roundabout for the bypass) and there is a Braun Z50 "shaving machine" in there priced at 135TL. I did a quick Google search and it would appear to be this one http://www.ciao.co.uk/Braun_Z_50_Cruzer_3_Z_50_1__7207710

They have about 5 ladies shavers but only this one for men. I guess men in TRNC don't do it themselves that often!

There is a Braun shop in Lefkosa which has a good range of Braun stuff - I even got a new foil for my 10 year old shaver. It is very close to the UK consulate - instead of going straight on at the give way just before the consulate, follw the main road round to the left and it is 50 metres or so on the left.

Also try China Bazaar. They sell quite a lot of electrical stuff in both cheaper Turkish brands & also the well known imports. We recently bought a Panasnic cordless landline phone & they do sell razors too.

Another outlet that may have imported electric razors is the Chemist on the main road at Catalkoy. He sells several well known brands of hair clippers.

I bought a rechargeable, twin-foil, trimmer electric shaver in China Bazaar for 14TL - you should see the quality - amazing for such money. They do the Philishave type and also, for 55TL, a superb rechargeable electric shaver that is 'wet 'n dry' [use in the shower] - I wish I'd bought that one now! China Bazaar are in Karakum.

When I was a sprog, working in the bush, cutting manuka or gorse & broom, used to have to shave with the 'goss knife' - like a machete on the end of an axe handle - no soap - just wait 'til ya'd worked up a streamin' sweat on ya dial, then get raspin'!
