And why?

As a lover of horror films I very rarely find them scary although watching The Grudge in the dark by myself did spook me a little bit at the start. The original A Nightmare On Elm Street was slightly scary when I watched it at the tender age of 14. (Just watched the remake and the new actor who plays Freddie is not a patch on Robert Englund)

It was banned for quite a few years in the UK so when I finally managed to see it I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Even though it's not scary it is in my top 10.

without a doubt the ring ,

spooky film and scary when the girl climbs out of the tv and the face on the victims when they are found sends a shiver down your spine.

not sure if you have seen it but part of the story is that the phone rings after watching a certian video and if you do answer it, well the rest i wont say incase i spoil the story, a certian friend i lent the dvd to watch it i told him when him and his misses have watched it make sure he has his mobile ready under the cushion and call his own house phone, well he did just that and she totally freaked out and wouldnt answer the phone for days.

i think it is one of them films which is a bit too spooky on youre own.

A very weird one I watched a while back was 'The Human Centipede', that was a waste of an hour and a half out of my life.

I watched Evil Dead in the middle of the afternoon, with the sun shining through the window and my then boyfriend sitting on the sofa beside me. I didn't dare even get up to use the toilet afterwards. Such naff special effects, yet strangely disturbing. Also disturbing was a badly dubbed Eighties flick called Demons 2. For me, the crapper and more low-budget the film, the scarier it is. And it seems zombies are my Achilles heel...

John's Ambulance waiting outside to attend the many who passed out.....I managed the first half hour and left.............

The Devil's Rejects! Is that the one where the girl gets smeared across the road after she finally escapes from the motel room? Pleasant! I was trying to remember the name of it the other day when I was telling someone about it. Cheers.

Funnily enough I re-watched IT the other day.

Blair Witch, I didn't go camping in woods for a few months hehe

I recently re-watched Poltergeist aswell. Classic.

My absolute favourite of all time is 'An American Werewolf in London'. Not scary at all, just something about it. Perhaps because my friend and I (used to) hike a lot in northern England. 'Stick to the roads, stay off the moors' Just such a cheesy film it's so likeable.

One I watched a few months ago, Cabin Fever 2, was a pretty mediocre film but is worth watching for some of the cringe factor moments. Blokes beware. You will cross your legs tightly at about 51 mins into it. (Or cup your bits )

I love the classic Hammer Horror films with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.

I liked the film with Roman Polanski and his wife Sharon Tate in about vampires. Last film she was in before she was murdered by the Manson family.

I still remember being terrifiied at about 8 years old by 'Quatermass and the Pit' which was a TV serial back in the 50s. I am sure it is nothing by today's standards but back then, and so young, I had nightmares for weeks.

Not a full length horror film but a great short by BBC is Whistle and I'll Come to You. Saw the original with Michael Hodern many years ago. I believe there has been a remake with John Hurt.

Everything about the Manson Family is spooky. Had to chuck that Bugliosi book in the bin as soon as I'd read it cos I didn't want it staring up at me from the bedside table.

In 1954 I played truant one afternoon to go to see Bud Abbot & Lou Costello in "Meet Dr Jeckal & Mr Hyde"

Believe it or not but this film was "X" rated ..

Going to the paybox, cigarette dangling from my mouth .. Horror of horrors it was my mates mum in the box ..

Can't let you in Harry you are only 14 & have to be 16 ..

Went back at night into the best seats & got in ..

In one scene Bud & Lou were in a museum when a head fell off a statue & rolled across the floor ..

Never have I jumped as much as I did then ..

"X" I ask you .. Never saw "King Kong" till it was on the tele for the kids .. That was a "X" certificate ..

It was a cult, with a leader who called himself Charles Manson. He believed a Beatles album was telling him to start a revolution ("Helter Skelter") and kill people. They lived on a ranch in California, I believe. Manson's still alive and in jail, but lots of the others are now walking free. As far as I'm aware, Manson shot one person, but got his "family" members to do the serious slaughtering of Roman Polanski's partner, Sharon Tate, and her friends, as well as another couple. Nasty stuff. Sharon Tate was pregnant when she died. There are loads of documentaries and books about the Manson Family. Wouldn't wanna meet any of them on dark night, yet weirdly, Manson is about the least scary looking of the lot. It seems he lost the plot when he realised no one was interested in his music. Hope he's not reading this...!

Blackbird. Never watched it but from what I gather it makes you want to slit your wrists hehe.

When I say never watched it, seen little bits from time to time in passing, like if I go round someones house and they have it on.

My mum is addicted to soaps, Corrie and Emmerdale anyway.

Yes LaptaMike, House of a 1000 Corpses was great. Still prefer the sequel, The Devil's Rejects though. I downloaded the soundtrack and can't stop playing it! Some brill tunes in there.

Hi there

The two from my childhood that really scared me where

The Invasion of the Bodysnatchers (the origianl one) and

What ever happened to Baby Jane.

The most recent scariest movie for me was Wolf Creek which came out in 2005

My first wedding video still scares the crap out of me, and in black and white makes it look worse.

I used to play it to the kids if they were playing up, soon stopped them.
