The Moon Star exchange bureau half way down the high street in Girne on the left hand side always has a board outside claiming they give the best rates. You can also do a bit of negotiating with them especially if you're exchanging a lot so you can get a better rate. Last time I went in they were handing out 'discount cards' to those that asked for 'indirim'!

Mike, Be aware, if you take Le (EGP) out of the 'hole in the wall' here don't use the ones in hotels, as they take a large commission from the transaction, you get a much lower rate than from machines in banks or shopping malls. You will change GBP no problem, and the GBP is stronger at the moment, it's up to 9.2 today, best for a long time, again though, rates in hotels are not as good as money exchanges.

throstle and yrret. The cash is in TL at the moment and I don't know whether they would exchange lira in Egypt. I know they like GBP, $ and euros hence the original question.
