Avoid all lawyers and estate agents and you will be OK!!! As that is not really possible just keep your thinking head on and do not be rushed into anything. Most of the above will have positive and negative comments against them so makes it impossible to say go to A, B or C. Anyone who says otherwise may have an axe to grind or have had a cash induced good experience. Double check anything that is told to you and then check again. You can go to any BB about TRNC and if you put in search you will find most answers. Treat as the worst experience possible and then build on that if the right questions are answered. Are we happy? On the whole yes. We have a problem with builder which most have but that will be sorted one day. We live here and if you ask would we go back to England? Do not be stupid, of course not!!!!!!!!! Good luck and remember, "be careful out there". David

p.s the reason for this is because Estate Agents are always tarnished with the same brush. My Agency in Bogaz has nothing to hide, and all its staff works very hard, seven days a week. We, as many other agents, are here to help with the purchasing process, and give clients many options. We are regsitered under the new legislation, as are many, to protect purchasers through the buying process. Our office would warmly welcome anyone whether they live here or maybe are looking at moving to our wonderful part of the world. I may speak on behalf of most agents, but certainly mine, we do not bite!!!! We all have a job to do, and ours is to help and guide through the buying process here in North Cyprus. Thank you for reading my post. Anyone living here please call in for a coffee! Maria

Hi John, http://www.busybeesestateagents-cyprus.com We specialise mainly on the East Coast of North Cyprus, from Bogaz and up to and including the wonderful unspoilt Karpaz.(for those that don't know, the panhandle of North Cyprus) If anyone is interested in the Karpaz, we have recently made a dvd with a local t.v company which shows amongst property, the Karpaz region with all its beaches and attractions. We will in the next few days be able to offer to send this disc to anyone in the U.k from Kent. Anyone interested, please send your address details to maria@busybeesestateagents-cyprus.com Thanks for your interest. Maria

Hi Terry and Karen, my advice to you would be to only to consider re-sale properties or completed projects as the off plan procces in the TRNC is a very frustrating procedure Which area are you thinking of purchasing in? Also choose your lawyer carefully not want recommended by an estate agent. Regards Ive.

Buy from builders like EMEK ,not developers with strange names who are nothing more than shell companies with no financial reserves to fall back on when times are hard like now. These types of companies are going out of biusiness every week leaving unfinished properties. Buy COMPLETED or from large ESTABLISHED builders and you wont go wrong.

Good advice from above. Only buy completed properties from people who have their deeds. A trawl of this forum will give you some reasons as to why. Never be fooled by the big discounts for paying upfront or handing over large amounts of cash. Follow the advice for purchasing in the TRNC from the HBPG. Good luck.

You could also look for a piece of land, approx 1 Donum, and get it registered in your name (obtain kocan) before commencing any building work. This may take a year or 2 but you can then design and build the house you really want. There are pitfalls, but if you are in no hurry it may be worth it.
