I am looking for someone who can help with servicing and filling an oil fuelled heating and hot water system.

Does anyone have any ideas.

Many thanks

We used Sure Home Services to prepare for this Winter. The work was undertaken thoroughly, taking 3 fold the time of services by others in previous years and, at half the cost.

Does anyone know if the oil heating system is more or less expensive than gas central heating?

adkdundee. Based only on the experiences of a small circle of friends I believe both are approx equally expensive. It does seem that the key is "how well insulated and draftproof is the property and is the boiler fitted within the property or outside". Some boilers are fitted within house boiler rooms and some on outside walls or even detached from the property. Gas containers can of course be an eyesore and a timebomb if not fitted safely.

Thanks for that dd,

I had a feeling that it would be at least as expensive as the gas heating.

adkdundee. I forgot to add, in case you do no know, that some who had fitted gas central heating were refused supplies until they could show some sort of government certificate to the effect that gas tanks were at least x metres from the building and fitted safely etc. Evidently it was a time consuming and expensive exercise gaining the certificates and oft times remedial work necessary. I have no idea how policed these new laws may currently be as they seem to make laws then soon ignore them. Anyway, it is something you may wish to investigate if not least for the safety factor.
