Hi, I am visiting Northern Cyprus in early October and staying for a month or two. I would like to make this visit to find any places or bands that have the need for a pianist/keyboard player. Also I have been a regular Quiz Master. The ideal evening I could run would be the combination of both.

A speakeasy type of night.

Hope you can get business or work permits if you intend to receive payment.

Contact Engin at Hillside restaurant in Lapta. He has a company and is offering to help entertainers to work legally.

Just a word of warning, the fine for working without a valid work permit is 1060 ytl (approx £400). Thats without the risk of deportation if you are not resident here.

Engin has just started this company to help entertainers, but as of yet no one can say it will work, as they really don't want British entertainers here, due to us taking the jobs away from the Cyps. (I have yet to have found any Cyps running a quiz, but you get my gist).

Fines, by the way,can happen even if you do a gig for free !!!

Sorry to be all doom & gloom, but you'd be better off going South if you want to work.
