I think it is still a lovely place to visit (as long as you don't mind steep & tight bends) and gives a little insight into what life must have been like a number of decades ago. Provides a nice respite in the Summer when the temperature is typically a few degrees less at that height and it is quite shady in the streets.

I think about Portmerion, and Patrick McGoohan ....

and mini mokes with stripey awnings ....

I am not a prisoner - I am a free man!

(Well, you asked! Actually I quite like the various watering holes and walks.

It's just a strange idea that I might be chased down the hill by a big white balloon thingy

Who is number one?)

We love going up to Karmi, the twist and turns make it all that more special , and then you get the views down to the coast just lovely and calming.

Then in the evening you can have a good meal at a restaurant in a very nice setting ( the name escapes me at the moment ! ) and then wind your way back down again feeling happy and calm,

Saffi xx

I agree it has to be one of the prettiest villages around, and in season we have 3 watering holes the levant restaurant, crows nest pub and the spot which is the late bar, all with great views

and before Hans corrects everyone its 'Karaman' not karmi was the Greek name for the place

RE msg 1: Walk through Karaman in spring and you'll have a wonderful afternoon.

Find my map of the village here and enjoy your walk: ▶ [ http://is.gd/Eah3KP/Karaman_map ].

P.S. Not important, but just for the record: the right spelling of the Greek name for Karaman is " Karmí " ((i accent aigu ´ (acute accent)).

basil, I know just what you mean!

Blackbird it is an imaginative comparison, narrow, steep pretty village streets, you just need to remember, be imaginative and compare. (Helps if you were a prisoner fan too)

It always reminds me of Clovelly in the SW of England.

Even the Greeks wouldn't live in Karmi, was known for tuberculosis.

Quaint little village known for its propensity for Barbour's and green wellies.

Its a lovely place and one of the few well kept villages in the North. Well done to all those who contribute to all the flowers and plants that seem to grow everywhere. It really is pretty and is exactly what you would think a Cypriot village to look like.
