Anyone play Canasta or Mahjong ?

I will be hopefully moving to Northern Cyprus at the end of the year, does anyone know if there are any ladies Canasta or Mahjong Groups running? its a great way to meet people & make new friends.

Hi Nicky, I'm living in Bahrain at the mo but we are moving acrossprob at the end of the year , my hucband is waiting to see when his contract expires. We are prob going to live at Alsanjac, (have a place at Ala Gagi but rented out) I run the canasta group here & go down town to play as well....just love it , where are you ? Pam

Hi there, I will. I played today, 14 attended so managed 2 tables of 4 & played a 6 which is good fun , slightly different as 3 players to a side. We play differently to a lot of people, which I prefer as its not such a walk over as the original version ( picking up if the player lays a card which you have showing & picking up with a wild card plus the card showinglik I played in UK.) We block with 2's & jokers ...they are layed as normal cards & a black 3. The black 3 is put sideways on & you can only pick up down to the black3 then its your choice whether to leave it open or reblock it again. You can only pick up the top card with 2 cards of the same number that is showing...(this rule continues at all times, which makes it harder as you have to keep note of whats gone all the time) I soon got used to how they played here & made my version that I played before seem like childs play !! My mother should be out in Feb and loves Mahjong, I havent played in years but would be up for playing it again.
