A question about chimney flues

Today i had a couple of official chaps from the belediyesi come to my house. They told me my chimney flu is too short, and i must lengthen it by a metre or 2. I have the metal tubes that slot into each other, so it's not going to be a problem to attach a couple more, however i was wondering if anyone else has had this 'problem'?



It must be said, that the chaps were very nice, but i got the feeling they thought being a woman, i wouldn't know what to do and took great pains to explain to me, that i was smoking out the village. (I almost laughed out loud thinking about all the summertime BBQ's, and the suffocating smoke that always finds a way into my house...not that i actually mind of course)



Anyway I apologised profusely and promised to fix this problem, and they left with rather bemused smiles on their faces.



But, as i said, i wondered if anyone else has had someone come by to tell them to lengthen their flues?

Daisy, next time they come around point them to this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inversion_%28meteorology%29 - then you can tell them its nothing to do with your flu, its the weather......................
