Had Sunday lunch at Al Shaheen for the first time last Sunday. The food was excellent and the service first-class yet unpresumptuous. Overall, the lunch was superb value for money. Will be back soon!!

went 2 weeks ago, I had soup then beef dinner, he had bahji then curry. Both meals super value. Well cooked and service great.

Lovely evening tonight at Al Shaheen, Karakum.

Good food, warm fire , great company and lovely staff with a good sense of humour The hand bag suits me more than you Imtiaz!

Have had their Sunday lunch before and really enjoyed it, almost as much as we enjoyed their Christmas dinner. Great to have good vegetables served and not just peas and carrots!

If you haven't tried it give it a go, I am sure you will enjoy the experience.

My wife and I and friends had "Sunday lunch" there today. Excellent value for money and a friendly owner and staff. Nothing serious to complain about - just praise. Having "Sunday lunch" is not a Dutch custom, but we'll do it again - in Al Shaheen.

P.S. My chicken balti was vindalo ( = hot or very spicy) but I asked for val ( = "bl**dy hot" or bl**dy spicy). Please note for next time!

P.P.S. A quality meal for 17 TL - how can they do it?

P.P.P.S. Why is a similar (?) meal in Al Shaheen in Karakum only 15 TL (17 TL in Lapta)?

Hi D.C. thanks Coming for Sunday Lunch.I think you have Lunch in our Lapta Restaurant today.

I don't understand you say val i think this is hot than Vindaloo and you get Vindaloo.please next time if you want more Hot than Vindaloo ask for fawl(very very hot).

Is Very difficult giving 2 Course quality Meal for 17 TL.But other Restaurant are doing this price.but we always try our best to Cook good quality food.

In Al Shaheen Karakum we have Special Offer price 15 TL for only few weeks after we have 17 TL as Al Shaheen Lapta.

▶ Dear Imtiaz, a restaurant owner in a London restaurant once wrote it down for me as "val", but he was from Bangla Desh. Maybe there's no difference between "val" and "fawl" and only the spelling is different in Pakistan-India-Bangla Desh? Never mind, the food and your service were excellent. Next time will be soon and then I'll ask for "fawl". OK?

DC Phall is the very hot curry, it is a British derived dish not a normal Indian one.

Went again on Sunday, could not fault the meal, it was very good. We had suggested to Imtiaz that he might like to try cabbage cooked with onion on the menu and Hey Presto there it was and it was delicious.

Well done Imtiaz, your food is consistently of a very high standard and please book us a table for two on Sunday for about 3p.m.

Re. messages 63, 67, 68. Suggest you both look up the definition of 'unpresumptuous'. It means 'NOT being unwarrantly or impertently bold'. In other words whenever we needed something Imtiaz immediately arranged it to our satisfaction; but both he and his staff were not all over us like a rash as some staff in certain other restaurants can be.



Message 67. Suggest you read all my message (2) again - if that is 'belittling' the establishment, I think your definition of 'belittle' and my definition are somewhat at opposite ends of the spectrum. And 'hidden agenda'? Oh dear!!



Have returned to Al Shaheen twice in past month for Sunday lunch. Verdict: 'Everything excellent'. Hopefully those two simple words will not confuse anybody as to my sentiments!!

Hi Goonerboy we have Tradition Indian Food in our a la Carte Menu.Lots of Good Choices.and also we serve on Sunday 2 Course Curry or 2 Course Roast at 15 TL.



Groucho we serve Sunday Lunch from 12:00 till 17:00 but if you like eat later please book your table and reserve the Sunday Roast.

Just to say Thank You to all the staff at AL SHAHEEN at the Karakum Branch for another superb Sunday Roast which as usual was cooked to perfection. And as to the value - well we could not prepare the meal at home for the price you are charging so it's 10 out 10 for price and 5 ***** stars for Quality keep it up lads.
