We did have one infront of the municipality with a few chicken, turkey and I think a monkey. I am not sure if it is still there but certainly not worth a visit. ismet

Chris, opposite Alagadi beach you can go see and feed horses, donkeys, ostrich, peacock, ducks, birds etc, free to enter,it's a bit of a sanctuary where people have just dumped their animals on him and the animals could do with the company, nobody seems to go anymore even though it's free.

Very sad pitiful place last time we looked, best not to patronize it, however if it has improved you will find it opposite the law courts near Maras. let us know?

I dont advise you to go it is heartbreaking. Last time i visited years ago they had a lion, a monkey, lots of birds and some cats and dogs. The animals barely had any water of food the smell alone was awful.

Sounds like Limassol Zoo twenty years ago where they had a lonely lion, an unhappy elephant and a few animals seemingly grateful for still being alive. But that is now improved, so maybe Famagusta will soon. But I still can't think where it is. Where are the Courts near Maras in relation say, to the city walls.

As you pass the Land Gate on your left, take the right turn. Go to the end of that road, and just before the roundabout, it's on your right. Personally, I wouldn't bother as you'll end up depressed and wanting to shoot yourself, or the animals, or both! If you're going down that road, your time would be better spent looking at the First Train in Cyprus, the Tekke of Kutup Osman, or continue a little further to where you can get good views of Maras.
