You can get it in packs at Bells food, it's good ham from England but expensive.

Yes, I have to agree, Bell's ham 'fills the gap'. I like it although it is fairly expensive.

There are several branches of Hurdeniz... starting in Alsancak (maybe beyond?) and ending in Catalkoy.

Where is Bells???? Jeez....some people don't get out and about much do they! Surely by now, if you live in TRNC you MUST realise that most things are available somewhere but not everywhere and...you must accept that if it isn't available there is some sort of compromise! Half the fun of living here is finding out where things are!

its not always easy to find information out, without asking, and being fairly new to the area, living out at catalkoy and being unable to drive, obviously makes discovering these places a little tricky..

but livs bells is going out of girne in the opposite direction along the main coastroad on the left hand side, just before escape beach if i remember right.. and also if its still in the same place it was when i visited a while ago..

Hur Deniz used to sell ham - but they have had none for over a month now. Bells also changed their supplier recently and the former ham was better and cheaper. Both previously got their ham from the South so maybe something is going on with meat imports from there.

lioderan01

Hur Deniz is worth finding anyway. The Girne shop (the biggest) is in square S13 on DC's brilliant Girne map....

http://www.cyprusdownload.nl/cypmap/map_of_girne/map_of_girne.html

......thats on the RHS 500metres after the main roundabout heading towards the Bellapais lights.

Hur Deniz get their ham from the South (so the lady in Catalkoy branch told me) and if no-one goes over for it, then they don't stock it.

Ham in Pork Shop is lovely but if you don't drive, a bit of a trek to get too.

As Guido's is a Delicatessen as well as a Bistro I would expect they have some there.

(They use it in their Carbonara sauce on home made pasta.)

Mess. 25, if you venture to Bells food, treat yourself to their breakfast. Excellent value for money, 8tl includes tea or coffee. The quality is always consistant, the chef sure knows how to fry a good egg, and you're always greeted with a smile from the waitress.

They have a good variety of frozen food, including crumpets, if you fancy a bit of traditional British food.

They stock gammon steaks, and a variety of other stock including packet sauce mixes, dried fruit, too many lines to mention.
