I have just had a text saying that some bastard has stolen one of the Royal donkey's And to top it all it is George our adopted Donkey. He is Blind and must be terrified. They have just been moved to a new paddock well off the main road in Yeni Erenkoy. So how the hell can anyone know they are there. If anyone hear's anything here or out in that area about a new donkey being around please get in touch with the Donkey Keeper

davideacock@donkey-valley.co.uk pr the police in that area. this is serious stuff when some one steals animals. What do people get out of this???

That is so awful, the poor donkey must be terrified. People can be so cruel. I will ask my Cypriot friends to keep an eye out for him, and if they hear of anyone suddenly having a blind donkey. Cemal might hear of something, so will ask him .

Could I just ask without getting my head bitten off, how do they know he's been stolen, or could he have just wandered off.

Great news, George has been found. No he did not just wander away as all the Royal Donkeys are securely fenced in. The locks were broken and two young kids took him with the intention to use him to round up sheep, two educated children may I add. The destination was two hours walk away and he was rode all the way, when they finally found he was blind they no longer wanted him.

KLDS are presenting a cheque for 1,000 to the Royal Donkeys at The Rocks Hotel this coming Thursday now it can go ahead as it was about to be postponed due to George`s disappearance, but will now be a celebration and a half. KLDS give to all five donkeys but George is their adopted donkey.

I should hope these children are not going to get away with theft of a blind donkey. They should be made to clean public toilets for a month.

We are overwhelmed with your very kind words and support.

So many people devoted the last 24 hours to spreading the word locally; Ann Canalp had the TC papers lined up, Deks (Yeni Erenkoy) sent a member of staff to drive the 'known' haunts, and Huseyin Balci helped in the search and actually picked him out in a valley. It didn't take long to get to him but took a lot of polos and carobs to secure his agreement to walk with us.

We have just completed the long walk back with George, bless him, taking us 2 and 1/2 hours across fields and around grape plantations (he won't go thru grape bushes). He seems to be none the worse for the experience other than traumatised when we got to him. A local lad assisted myself and Margaret. David Veasey did a Stalwart job as road support. We thank them both very much.

Just before sundown we are going back to Donkey Valley and feed the others a smaller portion of donkey meusli, and a whopping bowl for Goerge!

Love to you all out there.

Great news, what evil children and i hope they are punished. Cherish him tonight. Great for Val and her fantastic team to raise that money. Happy days all around. I feel so releived. I was relating the story to customers and they felt he had just wandered off Im so glad to hear this outcome had a happy ending. Im also pleased he is no worse other that all that walking for this ordeal. Love to you all xx

Was that Hassan Balci from Balgi Plaza on the Karpaz or a member of his family? Hassan is a great animal lover and it is typical for him to help to find the donkey.

Well done to you all!

Huseyin Balci has been fantastic in his pursuit to find George. Huseyin's brother runs the Balci.

That is fantastic news, the children should certainly not be allowed to get away with stealing him.
