I think the reason you got no response is because your message is a little confusing due to some serious mistakes. However, I believe I get the message! Although I teach Turkish on one to one basis, I believe one of my colleagues is just the right person for your speech practice. If you send me an email on turkishlessons1to1@yahoo.com, explaining your exact intentions, I shall but you two in touch.

Brinsley, She most definitely isn't. bigoz Pam, to my knowledge, has only been learning Turkish for 4 months and is very determined to be fluent. Wouldn't you say that she is doing pretty well so far and should be commended for her efforts to improve.

I would definitely agree with you ...aylin! It is great to make an effort to learn any other language. However, as many find out, learning Turkish practically in Cyprus does require a certain knowledge of basic grammar. This is because it is structurally different than many Latin based European languages, whereby suffixes and case endings replace many words as well as the positioning of verbs, objects, subjects, etc which vary greatly. Of course one can learn a language by talking to others all the time, but this option is not very effective for the English people living Cyprus, because they would spend most of their time talking in English to others. Anyway, I am always willing to help and point such nice people who want to learn my language in the right direction. If she contacts me at the above email address, I would be more than happy to put her in touch with the right person or advise her on the best ways of improving her language

What outstandingly friendly responses from Oz and Brinsley... Oz, who is a teacher takes a student to task on a public forum, even though her private contact details are provided and are surely a more appropriate way to address the issues, as by his own admission he got the drift of her message.... Brinsley, seems obsessed with people being the alter ego of someone else. Surely you give them a little time to establish their identity. And we wonder why new members are hard to come by.... :¬(

Groucho! Thanks for that! I responded to her message half sleep last night, in a hurry, and missed out completely on her email address at the end of her post - hence why I asked her to email me. I will most definetely email her this morning with all the details she needs to know. As for my teaching - I am currently working flat out, with my whole week almost full, and often advising new comers where else they can go for lessons. No secret agendas here mate! Always at your service - Oz

I would love to go walking and speak Turkish ONLY at the same time. It would be good for me too. However, I am not Turkish or Turkish Cypriot but English, so I don't know if you would be interested. I enjoy walking so this sounds like a wonderful idea. I don't know any German by the way.

Dear Pambom and ClaireCat. I too would love to walk and talk Turkish. I am English but am able to converse in Turkish at an intermediate level after having lived in Istanbul for 12 years. Could we meet up and practice and improve our Turkish together? Just an idea.

I personally would prefer to meet some female friends with similar interests. I am sure there are people who would like to walk and talk with you, but not me I'm afraid. You are beginning to sound like a stalker.
